Manipal: A man, allegedly attempting suicide, died after the rope snapped, causing him to fall from a height of over 20 feet. The incident occurred on December 30 in Navagraha Colony, Badagubettu village.

The deceased, identified as Melroy (55), had tied a rope to an iron beam on the first floor of his house. While struggling during the attempt, the rope broke, and he fell onto the outer courtyard, suffering a fatal head injury. He died on the spot.

Melroy had pledged to donate his organs posthumously in 2018 through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation, Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi. His donor card mentioned liver, intestines, eyes, skin, bones, heart valves, and blood vessels for donation.

Manipal Police, led by PSI Anil Kumar and ASI Nagesh Naik, conducted legal procedures. Forensic experts Prasanna, Lavanya, and Harish inspected the site.

Social worker Nityanand Volakadu assisted in transferring the body to the Manipal Hospital for post-mortem.
