Manipal: Mud collapses beside the highway; fear

Udupi: The collapse of mud from a hill located near Syndicate circle in front of Laxmindranagar movie theatre at Manipal along the Malpe-Teerthahalli NH 169A route created a sense of fear amongst vehicle users.
On Wednesday evening, the mud collapse and fell onto the drain there. The hill does have trees and there are also building located slightly afar. This area which is close to the road is dangerous. Trees and mud can possibly fall onto the vehicles passing here. Besides, a blocked drain will oonly force the rainwater to flow on to the road, opinion the public.
Will be extended
The highway development work is still under progress and either sides of the road here will be extended. The area containing the hill will see an expansion of around 6 meters. The expansion will be conducted once the land is acquired. The area where the mud has collapsed will be inspected immediately and necessary action will be taken – Highway Department Officials
