Manipal-origin Raj Pai appointed VP of Google Cloud

Raj Pai (Rajanish Pai), a member of the prominent Pai family from Manipal, has been appointed as the Vice President of the prestigious Google Cloud in the United States.
Raj Pai will oversee the management of Cloud Artificial Intelligence (AI) team. This appointment signifies Google’s focus on prioritizing its cloud business.
Pai joins Google from Amazon in Seattle, where he served as the Vice President of Amazon Web Services (AWS). Initially, he held the position of Director (Product Management, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud – EC2) at Amazon.
Before his tenure at Amazon, he spent 15 years at Microsoft in Seattle, leading various teams including Windows 8 Developer Tools, Visual Studio and Hotmail. He was the Group Program Manager for Office 365 Exchange Enterprise Cloud and was closely associated with Bill Gates of Microsoft and Jeff Bezos of Amazon.
Raj Pai holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. He is the son of the late Dr. T. Umeshraya Pai and Nalini Pai, who were esteemed figures at KMC Manipal, with Dr. T. Umeshraya Pai serving as an Anatomy professor during the institution’s early days. Raj Pai is married to Christa, and they have three children: Gavin, Dylan, and Sarina.
