Manipal police arrest serial molester

Udupi: A man who allegedly molested female students and women on multiple occasions in Manipal was arrested by the police on Friday, November 15.

The arrested Deepak Nayak, a resident of Parkala works as a security guard of a nationalized bank in Udupi. He has been booked under section 354 of IPC.

It is gathered that Nayak used to roam near Vidyarathna Nagara, Perampalli Road and Ishwara Road, where streetlights are defunct and used to target women and girl students walking alone on the road, sexually harass and even molest them before escaping on his two-wheeler.

Having received several complaints of molestation by the culprit, Udupi SP Nisha James formed a team under ASP Kumarchandra formed a team to arrest him.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Nayak at Ishwara Nagara and also seized his two-wheeler.
