Manipal: A woman bank officer was found dead at her residence here in a suspected suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Sonali (35), a native of Nagpur in Maharashtra. She had been posted as an Assistant Manager at the Canara Bank Head Office in Manipal and resided at Vibudhapriya Nagar for the last 2 years.
Her family claimed that Sonali suffered from depression and this may have led to the extreme step. She had reportedly slipped into depression after her divorce in 2022.
According to sources, Sonali lived alone at the apartment with her father and mother visiting her intermittently.
Her mother was admitted to KMC Hospital Manipal after slipping and falling from stairs. On September 13 she was at the hospital with her father and returned home the next morning. Her father grew concerned when she did not reach the hospital in the evening. His attempts to reach her over the phone also failed.
When her father returned home at around 8 p.m. on September 14, he found the front door locked. When he opened the door, he found Sonali dead in the apartment.
A case has been registered at Manipal police station.
Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek expert help.
