Manohar Parrikar assisted in the release of fishermen

Udupi: Malpe fishermen will never forget the assistance provided by Goa’s chief minister Manohar Parrikar in the release of the fishermen who had gone on a fishing trip from Malpe and were arrested near Goa border.
There were around 5-6 fishermen aboard 11 fishing boats. Their boats were seized in Goa on the allegation that they had violated law. Then, informing through the then union minister Ananth Kumar, MLA Raghupati Bhat led a fishermen delegation to Goa. Mr Parrikar met the delegation, offered them tea, called the chief secretary and informed him to release the prisoners by fining them the least amount of fines. “If in case, Mr Parrikar had not intervened, a large fine would have been levied and it would have caused much trouble,” remembers the MLA Bhat.
Two years back, when GSB conservation convention was organized at Padubidri, Mr Parrikar was the defence minister. Then, he delivered a rising speech, arrived at Udupi Sri Krishna Math to visit the deity and also participated in the Rajangana meeting. It was the 5th term of the Pejawar Seer as the Paryaya. Mr Parrikar has also arrived during election period and given speeches on behalf of BJP party.
Condolences on Parrikar’s demise
Udupi BJP district president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, MLA Raghupati Bhat, GSB conservation committee convener Vivekananda Shenoy have expressed condolences on Goa’s chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s demise.
