Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ golden statue to arrive in M’luru on Dec 1

Mangaluru: Football legend Diego Maradona’s golden statue, “Hand of God” which will be presented in the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022, will be arriving in the city today. (Thursday, December 1).
The statue will be taken to Qatar under the leadership of the businessman and Chairman of Chemmanur International Group, Dr Boby Chemmanur (Boche).
Maradona’s golden statue will be arriving in the city at 6 PM on Thursday at the Nehru Maidan.
On Friday, December 2, the statue will be arriving at the St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru campus. From there on, it will be travelling towards Manipal, Bhatkal and Goa.
The procession of the statue was flagged off at Thiruvananthapuram by the Kerala Public Works Department and Tourism Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas.
The motive behind the procession by Boche is to create awareness among people on drugs.
As the aim is to spread awareness in all schools and colleges in the country, based on this, a programme is organized in Mangaluru at Nehru Maidan on Thursday (December 1) evening by the Dakshina Kannada (DK) District Football Association.
Meanwhile, the President of the DK District Football Association, D M Aslam has said that the lucky draw winner during the programme will get a flight ticket to Qatar to witness the FIFA World Cup.
