Kasaragod: The huge quantity of illegal narcotics seized from a house near Uppala was sourced from Bengaluru, according to Kasaragod District Superintendent of Police, D. Shilpa.
During a press briefing, the SP said that the seized substances represent one of the largest drug busts in the state. The accused, identified as Askar Ali (26) from Pathwadi, has had his bank accounts frozen. During the raid on his two-storey house, police recovered 3.409 kg of MDMA, 640 grams of green ganja, 96.96 grams of cocaine, and 30 capsules hidden in various compartments.
According to Shilpa, Askar Ali has confessed that the narcotics were brought from Bengaluru. Investigations are ongoing, with additional suspects being identified. However, their details have not been disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, said the SP.
This bust is the second-largest drug seizure in the district, following a similar incident a few years ago when 200 kg of ganja was confiscated in Jodukallu. Authorities believe the drugs were sold online in quantities ranging from 5 to 50 grams. Agents, often covering their faces, delivered the substances to users discreetly.
Funding Investigation
Police are now probing how Askar Ali acquired crores of rupees to fund his drug purchases. Police suspect a larger network is involved, and efforts are underway to track the individuals who purchased the drugs online. Ali was previously employed at a clothing store in Uppala, according to police sources.
