Kundapur: A massive protest was held on Friday by Hindu Jagarana Vedike against cattle theft and slaughter at Gangolli in the Taluk.

Thousands including women took part in the protest march from port office to Ram Mandir. Also, Gangolli town was closed voluntarily by the traders.

Chief secretary of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV), Karnataka south province said that Cow is a sacred animal. Hindus must protect it and raise voice against the atrocities. He also condemned the recent video of cow slaughtering that went viral.

“Also, Police officials are busy attacking the protectors of the cow and are saving the accused. I guess officials of Gangolli police station are not aware of the anti-cow slaughter bill implemented in the state. Hindu society is united to fight against these kinds of acts. Strict action must be taken against cow slaughterers,” he said.

He further said, “The district administration must demolish illegal mosques as all are facing problems due to the Azaan on loudspeakers.”

An appeal regarding this  was submitted to tahsildar Kiran Gowraiah.

Prakash Kukkehalli, chief secretary of HJV, Mangaluru division, Prashant Nayak, district president Udupi, Govind Sherugar, president Gangolli and others were present.
