Maveli express train becomes attractive!

Attractive colour and different design | First train from Palakkad division
Mangaluru: “Maveli Express train (16603)” plying between Mangaluru Central – Thiruvananthapuram has changed its blue colour to Apricot and red lines and started its journey after the transformation on Tuesday February 5th.
This is the first train to start from Mangaluru Central Railway station under the union government’s “Project Utkrisht” and started its journey on Tuesday evening. The train with a different colour and lavish interiors also has the reputation of being the first train in this model to be started under the Palakkad Division.
The train which left Mangaluru at 5:45 pm in the evening will reach Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday and then depart in the evening from there to reach back Mangaluru on Thursday.
The aim of “Project Utkrisht” is to upgrade the service provided by the railways. Under this project, 144 bogies of 66 express trains in the country will be upgraded. Close to Rs 60 lakh will be spent per train for its upgradation.
Railway department’s senior officials B Venugpal, Rajesh Kumar, Dr Shivashankar Murthy, K V Shridharan, Ramakumar M, P Sureshan and Kisha Kumar were present.
23 colourful bogies!
Mavali express train has altogether 23 bogies and all of their exteriors are painted in apricot colour and red lines. The coaches were manufactured in Chennai and where brought to Mangaluru on Tuesday morning post which they were attached to the SLR. He train has 4 AC 3 tiers, 1 AC 2 tier, 11 sleeper bogies.
Utkrisht train features
The features of Utkrisht train include LED lights. Clear seat number indicators have been installed for the customers to find their seats easily. The interiors of the coaches have been beautified. Bio toilets have been introduced in these coaches. The toilets have both Indian and western style toilets. Workers have been appointed to take care of the cleanliness per individual bogie. They will be cleaning once in every two hours. Dustbins will be available near the toilets of every individual bogie.
