Belthangady:  By election will be held on May 29th for the three posts which became vacant due to some reasons at Ujire and Koyyur Gp constituencies in the taluk.

Two posts in Ujire constituency went vacant after, members Geeta Venkappa resigned from her post and Venkappa Naik expired while in office of Ward no 4 and 11 respectively.

The post at ward 2 of Koyyur GP became vacant when Vittala expired when in office and hence voting will be conducted on May 29th from 7 am to 5 pm in the evening.

May 29th voting: May 31st counting

On May 13th, the Deputy Commissioner will be issuing the notification and the process of filing nomination will begin. May 16th is the last day to submit nomination papers. The nomination papers will be inspected on May 17th and May 20th is the last day to withdraw nomination. The voting will be conducted on May 29th and the counting of votes will be conducted at the Taluk centre on May 31st.

Voters’ list not yet released

The voters’ list must be provided to the election officers by May 13th, but the list has not yet been released, inform the concerned officials. Since May 11th is the second Saturday and May 12th is Sunday, the process might possibly get further delayed. It is learnt that the voters’ list is still at the office of the election officer in Bengaluru.

MCC in effect

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be in effect within the GP limits from May 13th to May 31st. Earlier, MCC was limited to only the ward which was going for election, but presently it has been extended to the entire gram panchayat limits.
