Bengaluru: Continuing to express doubts over the longevity of the BJP government in Karnataka, former minister MB Patil on Monday predicted midterm polls to the State Assembly.

Addressing presspersons here Patil said that it is difficult for Chief Minister led BJP government to complete three-and-half years. 17 Congress-JD(S) disqualified MLAs have gone with the BJP for the sake of power, but the BJP can never run the government with disqualified MLAs support.

“With those who are not committed to a party’s principles and programmes, with those who don’t have political values if you form a government, how long can it survive?” he said.

“BJP government will not survive for long, midterm polls will take place in the state in 2020,” he added.

Reacting on government’s decision to not hold winter session in Belagavi, as the district has been ravaged by floods this year, Patil said, “The BJP leaders do not want to hold winter session in Belgavi because they are scared that the flood-affected people will come and protest in front of Suvarna Soudha demanding justice.”
