Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) municipal commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde has issued a circular directing corporation officials to conduct raids and clear roadside eateries in the city.
This move comes as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19 and cholera.
In the circular, Hegde has instructed health and revenue department officials to form teams to launch raids and clear the city’s streets of vendors selling food on carts and vehicles.
Prior arrangements for the raids such as police security and videography must be done and anybody trying to obstruct the raid must be dealt with sternly.
The commissioner also added that all hotels and restaurants not adhering to the necessary guidelines and regulations will have their licenses cancelled.
