MDMA tablets seized; Peddler arrested

Mangaluru: City Crime Branch sleuths have arrested a person who was attempting to sell the banned Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine (MDMA) tablets on Thursday, September 27th.
The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Muhammed Shafi (32), a resident of Katipalla, Surathkal. 90 grams of MDMA in tablet form were recovered from him. The value of the seized illicit drug is Rs 3.15 lakh.
Police commissioner T R Suresh said that the police had gathered information that the accused was selling the banned substance to many people across the city and investigation is on in this regard. The accused used to source the tablets from Mumbai and sell it locally.
While arresting the accused, the sleuths seized a mobile phone, digital weighing machine and cash from the accused along with the tablets. The total value of all the seized items amounts to Rs 3.20 lakh. The accused has been handed over to Kankanady police station for further action.
