‘Meet the Press’: Public gathering and processions restricted, says DK DC

Mangaluru: Ahead of the festive season, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said that public gatherings and processions will be completely restricted considering the pandemic situation.

He was speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ event held at Press Club on Wednesday, August 11.

The DC said that the Covid 19 norms the Covid-19 restrictions would likely be continued till Dasara and relaxations if any will be decided after analysing the situation.

His directive comes in backdrop of Nagara Panchami, Ganesh Chaturthi festival which usually sees devotees thronging to temples in large numbers.

Apart from this he said that as people visit malls etc for festive shopping, weekend curfew is necessary to avoid unnecessary movement and urged for Public cooperation

On vaccination drive, the DC said that the government has been urged to provide up to 1 lac vaccines to cover the vulnerable groups and second dose beneficiaries.
