Mangaluru: The City Police commissioner in a press release has stated that the airport hoax bomb caller has been arrested and claimed that the motive for his hoax call was to achieve quick fame as the earlier bomb scare accused Aditya Rao.

The release further states that the culprit Vasant Krishna Sherigar (33) is a resident of Karkala taluk and works in a hotel at Udupi. He had got the mobile number of the former director of the airport from Google search and had made the call on August 19 at 13:05 hours.

“A case was registered against the caller at Bajpe police station after it was known that the call was a hoax. After tracing the mobile phone number to Vasant, Mangaluru city police in cooperation with Udupi district police arrested him from his residence,” the release added.
