MIA: Man arrested for smuggling Rs 26 lakh gold concealed in his rectum

Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Tuesday arrested a passenger for allegedly smuggling over Rs 26 lakh gold concealed in his rectum.

The arrested has been identified as Moideen Arzan, a resident of Uppala, Kasaragod.

Arzan had arrived from Dubai by Air India flight No. IX814. He was attempting to smuggle gold in paste form concealed within rubber capsules inside his rectum.

The value of the seized gold, weighing 619 gms of 24 karat purity is valued at Rs. 26,30,750.

Arzan was produced before the CJM Court at Mangaluru.
