Zain Nadella, son of Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, passed away on February 28, reports said. He was 26.

A report by Bloomberg said that the software maker Microsoft wrote an email to its executive staff announcing the death of Zain. The message asked executives to hold the family in their thoughts and prayers while giving them space to grieve privately, the report said.

Zain was born with Cerebral Palsy, a debilitating disorder that affects movement, muscle tone, balance, and posture. Satya Nadella often cited his experience in looking after Zain for his focus on developing products for people with disabilities, ever since he became CEO of the software giant.

The Nadellas also established Zain Nadella Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences last year at the Children’s Hospital, where Zain was being treated, Bloomberg reported.  “Zain will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile, and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him,” Jeff Sperring, CEO of Children’s Hospital was quoted as writing by the same report.
