Mid-aged couple commit suicide

Bengaluru: A mid-aged couple were found hanging from the ceiling at their residence in Sampangiramnagar near Corporation Circle, central Bengaluru.

The deceased has been identified as Parameshwar alias Parameshwarappa, aged 58, and Shashikala Parameshwar, aged 48. Parameshwar was an employee in a power loom in Sampangiramnagar and his wife Shashikala worked as an assistant with a car seat cover-maker near Urvashi Theatre. The couple is survived by a daughter.

The incident came to light when the daughter came home to check on her parents as they were not receiving her phone calls. She immediately informed the police. She also said that her mother was upset with her father because he was an alcoholic. She also said that her father was under treatment for depression but he was addicted to alcohol and waste a lot of money on it. This made her mother very unhappy.

After the post-mortem, police have said that Shashikala might have taken the step first and hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Parameshwar woke up to see his wife hanging and the hanged himself from the same fan.
