Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Devegowda on Friday said that was not sure if the coalition government will survive for long and hinted at the possibility of midterm polls.
His remark comes in the backdrop of leaders of alliance partners openly expressing that the coalition is hurting party interests and the same should be called off.
Speaking to reporters at his residence here on Friday morning, Devegowda said, “There is no doubt that this (midterm polls) will happen. I had assured support for full five years but the developments are there for everybody to see. People are aware enough to understand it. You (media) need not make them understand. People have seen enough elections in this country,”
He further added that the Congress high command should have held discussions with party leaders before approaching JDS for an alliance. “Why did they do it? Because Yeddyurappa had taken oath and they didn’t want BJP to form government. They forced that my son becomes the CM,” Devegowda added.
