Bengaluru: Fisheries Minister S Angara has said that he will be writing a letter to the Centre to release 3,313-kilolitres of kerosene for the convenience of traditional fishermen.

Responding to a question raised by Congress MLA K Harish Kumar, the minister said that the issue of diesel subsidy to boat operators would be discussed with the chief minister and officials of the Finance Department.

Kisan Credit Card scheme has been extended to fishermen and so far 368 cards have been issued to beneficiaries. Rs 2.90 lakh loans have been granted and many measures have been taken to waive fishermen’s debt,” he added.
