Minister for Higher Education Dr. CN Ashwathnarayan on Thursday announced personal financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of slain BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru.

Nettaru was hacked to death by bike-borne assailants on Tuesday night.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday Ashwathnarayan said, ” I would not like to call this a kind of assistance. This is my duty. I can’t put a price tag on his sacrifice,” he said.

The cheque of Rs 10 lakh will be delivered to Praveen’s family.

Reacting to the angry outburst of activists at Praveen’s funeral, Ashwathnarayan said that he understood the outrage expressed by the workers and assured that the government will arrest Praveen’s assailants and they will be dealt with sternly.
