Min Kota directs officials to speed up implementation of free electricity distribution scheme

Bengaluru: State Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has directed the officials to speed up the implementation of the free electricity distribution scheme that provides 75 units of electricity per month, free of cost to the SC/ST community and BPL card holders.
Addressing the review meeting on Tuesday, December 6 he said, “Government is aiming at providing 75 units of electricity per month, free of cost to SC/ST community and BPL card holders.”
He directed the officials to implement the plan other than DBT hassle-free. He also suggested looking for alternative methods.
“We are also finding solutions towards bill submission of the ESCOM beneficiaries, but the implementation of the scheme is the need of the hour. The scheme is already costing Rs. 800 crores and in coming days it will increase”, he added.
