Hubli: Minister Byrati Basavaraj and locals clashed at the circuit house here on September 6.

The locals had complained that they were not taken into confidence while planning the redevelopment of old Hubli and Durgadabail market. They added that while the DPR was being prepared under the Smart City project they were not consulted.

When the issue was mentioned to the minister many shouted at the minister and used profane words against local leaders. This caused a heated argument between them and BJP leaders from the area.

Police entered the circuit house as the verbal tirade continued. Later, tempers cooled after the minister responded positively to the appeal of the locals to look into the matter.
