State Revenue Minister, Krishna Byre Gowda on Tuesday visited Dakshina Kannada district to evaluate the ongoing projects within the revenue department.

The minister inspected the under-construction new Deputy Commissioner (DC) office in Padil, a project that has been in the works for several years.

Addressing the media, Krishna Byre Gowda said, “Our aim is to assess the progress of work and evaluate the responsiveness of government officials to the needs of the public. We will undertake inspections of lower-level revenue department offices such as village accountant offices, sub-registrar offices, and tahsildar record rooms. Subsequently, a general meeting will be convened with officials to address major concerns related to the survey department and revenue cases. Our focus is on delivering government services that cater to the public’s requirements and ensuring timely completion of tasks.”

He further said, “Despite commencing the construction of the DC office in 2017-2018, the project remains unfinished. The original estimate was divided into two phases, with the cost of phase 1 exceeding the approved budget. Although this project was sanctioned by the previous government, it continues to operate under their approval. The clearance for the second phase, however, is still pending.”

“Our commitment is to complete the pending DC establishment works and also conduct inspections of various departments from village accountant offices to the DC office itself, addressing the district’s challenges,” he added.

DC Mullai Muhilan was present during the visit.
