Udupi: District in-charge minister, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj has warned Social activist T J Abraham of filing a defamation case against him for making derogatory comments and claiming that the Minister had defrauded a bank of Rs 193 crore.
Addressing the media here, Madhwaraj said, “I will file defamation case against T J Abraham of Rs 10 crore in damages, through my lawyer Shantaram Shetty. We have sent a notice and he has only three days to respond on it.
“False allegations were made against me with an intention to damage my reputation in the district. I suspect this to be a handiwork of a former MLA and a former Independent MLA who was with the Congress party earlier and have now joined BJP,” he said.
He also demanded an unconditional public apology from Abraham by calling a press meet as well as in writing.
Madhwaraj clarified saying that he took loan from the bank in compliance with rules and regulations of the bank and further said that the loan amount does not sum up to Rs 193 crore alleged.
