Minister Munenakoppa urges people to buy handloom products to support weavers

Bengaluru: State Textile and Sugarcane Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa urged the people of the state to buy more and more handloom products to encourage and support the lives of handloom weavers.

Addressing the gathering at the 8th National Handloom Day programme on Sunday he said, “The state and Centre have implemented several policies towards the handloom sector, like that of the agriculture sector. Our state handloom weavers produce quality products. People must support them by purchasing their products”.

Meanwhile, five handloom weavers were awarded for the year 2022.

In the silk handloom sector, D S Mallikarjun from Molakalmuru secured first place and second place was bagged by P Srinivas from Kollegala.

In the cotton handloom sector, first place was bagged by Sachin Bahusab Teradale from Chikkodi and second by Padiyappa Gokavi from Beelagi.

Similarly, in the woolen handloom sector, Shankara Sannaki received the award.
