Minister Pramod Madhwaraj urged farmers to adopt organic farming

Manipal: Minister Pramod Madhwaraj emphasized that farmers should give importance to their health.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a workshop on health and personality development of farmers, organized by MAHE he said, “Farmers should take care of their health and avoid spraying pesticides and other fertilizers on crops as this causes danger to their health. These chemicals may also cause deadly diseases like cancer,”
He also urged the farmers to undergo regular health check-ups to know of possible dangers.
Minister urged the farmers to adopt organic farming and stop using pesticides and fertilizers.
The Minister said the present initiative of focussing on the health of farmers was laudable. “Just as food is essential for society, the health of farmers is too,” he said.
T.N. Prakash Kammaradi, chairperson of the State Agriculture Price Commission, H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, Poornima Baliga, Pro Vice-Chancellor, were present.
