Bengaluru: Education minister Suresh Kumar has issued an order stating that a certain portion of class 6 social science textbook must be omitted.

The said text allegedly contains derogatory content against Hindu religious practices.

On social media, the portion of the textbook has been doing the rounds. Even Paryaya Admar Math Sri Ishapriya Swamiji at Udupi noticed it and commented on it. He reportedly messaged Kumar and brought the issue to his notice stating that non-factual knowledge was being imparted to students through the text.

The minister had responded by saying that the book was not printed long back and was pending revision. He assured that the derogatory portion will be removed from the textbook in the revision exercise next year.
