Bengaluru: Reacting to JDS supremo HD Devegowda’s remarks that the coalition government would not last long, deputy chief minister Dr. G Parameshwara said that minor differences among coalition partners was normal and the same needs to be resolved internally.

Speaking to media persons Parameshwara said, “Devegowda is a senior and an experienced leader. He is always careful about what he speaks.

Small discrepancies, discord and differences of opinion surface when we run a coalition government… The coalition dharma calls for taking everybody along ignoring the differences.”

He further added that he had no idea why the former prime minister said that JDS was pressurised to forge the post-poll alliance by Rahul Gandhi.

On the dismal performance put up by Congress in Lok Sabha elections Parameshwara said that losing an election did not imply that the Congress party has become weak or has lost its strength.

Earlier in the day Devegowda created a stir by stating that the state will witness mid-term poll as differences between the coalition partners were growing by the day.

Minutes after his remark chief minister Kumaraswamy went into damage control mode and said that the JDS supremo might have referred about local body polls.

Congress’s state unit president Dinesh Gundu Rao too said that the remarks were Devegowda’s personal opinion and sought a clarification from him.

Following Congress’s response on the issue, Gowda issued a clarification saying that the mid-term election are not in his hands. “As long as Congress will be strong, we will be strong,” he said.
