Minor girl found dead at a house in Pumannu

Ullal: A minor girl who was employed as a house help at a house at Pumannu in KC Road Talapady has been found dead in the state of suicide by hanging. As the locals expressed doubts to a possible murder, the police and forensic experts visited the spot, post which the corpse was shifted to the hospital.

The deceased girl is identified as Reshma (17), daughter of Mohammed Farviz, a resident of Delhi. She was working as house help since 9 months at the house of Mohammed, a resident of Pumannu. It is being said, earlier the sister of the same girl had stayed at the very house as an house help and then vacated once she got married.

Incident synopsis

The owner of the house Mohammed lives in Dubai and a relative of his brother, identified as Hameed and his family were residing at the house. At 11 am in the morning, he had left with his family on a visit to a relative on which occasion, the girl was left alone at the home. In the evening, when Hameed returned back home with his family and opened the door, the girl was found to have committed suicide by hanging from the rod of the staircase to the first floor by using chudidhar shawl.

Get news of the incident, locals gathered at the spot and suspected that it was not a suicide. They insisted that the body be lowered only after the police and media arrived to the spot and conducted investigation.

People were gathered in front of the house for almost four hours. Dr Mahabalesh, head of forensic department, KSHEMA, arrived at the location, inspected the corpse after which the body was transferred to the hospital. The doctor informed that on the surface it looks to be a suicide, but the autopsy will provide all necessary additional information.

The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of Ullal station inspector Gopikrishna.
