Minor held for killing 2-year-old child

Bengaluru: Two year old child was found dead in a forest in Soladevanahalli police station limits. The police have arrested 14- year-old neighbour for the murder.

The victim has been identified as 2-year-old Venkatesh. His father Basavaraju is a owner of a roadside eatery. The child was allegedly smothered by the accused by pressing his foot against the child’s neck. He did this avenge the humiliation of his father Eranna who was humiliated by Basavaraju.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon. Venkatesh was playing in front of his house when a pigeon owned by Eranna’s son flew to the nearby forest. Venkatesh was fond of pigeons so Eranna’s son called Venkatesh to help him find the bird in the forest. Both went to the forest but only Eranna’s son returned back home.

Basavaraju and his family began searching for Venkatesh. After spome ime they found Venkatesh’s body lying dead in the forest. Basavaraju lodged a complaint accusing Eranna of killing his son to take revenge of their fight.

The police arrested Eranna but on enquiry they discovererd that Eranna was not present at the spot that day when the murder took place. The police suspected Eranna’s son involvement in the murder and arrested him. During the enquiry, Eranna’s on confessed to have killed the child. With the help of Child Welfare Committee members, the boy was sent to the state-run boy’s home.
