Mangaluru: Miscreants changed the name of Mahatobhara Sri Mangaladevi temple in Bolar on Google Maps with “malicious intent”, a complaint filed at CEN police station alleged.

The management board of the temple was notified on Tuesday that the name of this temple under the purview of the religious endowment department was changed to “Bolar Sheikh Umar Saheb Compound”.

The temple governing body said that this was done with “malicious intent to harm the sanctity of the temple and hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and disturb the harmony.”

The governing board also urged the police to take steps  to restore the correct name of the temple as “Mahatobhara Sri Mangaladevi Temple” and action should be initiated against the culprits.
