Brother attempts suicide, condition critical
Chandrashekhar (30), brother of one of the missing fishermen Ramesh attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison on learning that the wreckage of the boat had been found. He is currently admitted at a private hospital in Udupi and his condition is critical.
He had consumed the poison three days back and turned ill. Since the family was unaware of his act, they presumed he was suffering from jaundice and provided medication for the same. On Monday, when he was being taken for treatment, he revealed to his brother and friends that he had consumed poison. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Udupi.
He doctors have informed that there is blood ejecting from his nose and mouth and that his organs are stopping to function.
Ramesh is one of the 7 children of Shaniyar Moger of Bhatkal and on May 13th, had left on a fishing expedition aboard the doomed vessel Suvarna Tribhuja belonging to Chandrashekar Kotiyan which eventually went missing. This fact caused Ramesh’s brother to fall into depression. But a few days back, he received the information regarding the finding of the wreckage of the vessel which only worsened his condition and he resorted to consuming poison in a bid to commit suicide. Chandrashekhar is a bachelor. One son is missing in the sea while another has attempted suicide and is in a critical condition. This sudden and painful turn of events has only left the elderly parents and family members in a perpetual pool of tears.
