Padubidri: The missing cop from Karkala Town police station was found dead on Monday, October 23.
The body of Shrutin Shetty (35) was recovered near Karkala Lakshmidevi Kalyana Mandap. The death is suspected to be a case of suicide. However, the exact reason for the death is yet to be ascertained.
Shrutin, a resident of Angadimane near Kaup Janardhana temple, had gone missing on October 19. The following day, his wife lodged a complaint with Padubidri police, stating that Shrutin had called her to inform her that he would be coming home. However, he did not arrive home nor did he report for duty at his workplace. His mobile phone too was switched off.
Following this, police had launched an investigation to trace Shrtin’s whereabouts.
It is gathered that Shrutin had taken his week off on October 18 and had availed a CL on October 19. He joined the police department in the 2008 batch and had been promoted to head constable of Karkala Town police station two months ago.
After his disappearance, he had reportedly withdrawn money from an ATM in Manipal.
Suicide is preventable. If you get any such thoughts, consult or seek help from mental health experts.
