Belthangady: A lady identified as Sonia Jesma Fonseka (22) resioding at Ballamanja in Machchina village in the taluk had gone missing after leaving home in the guise of visiting a tailoring shop on Thursday, June 20. However, she surfaced on Friday, June 21 as a married woman.

Sonia had left her home to visit a textile store at Madyanthar and then to a tailoring shop on Thursday but failed to return back home. She had also not contacted her family members. Hence her parents filed a missing report in Punjalkatte police station. Meanwhile, there were rumours of Sonia having eloped with the vice president of the local gram panchayat.

Come Friday, the missing Sonia presented herself in the police station along with Chandrashekhar Poojary, vice president of Machchina gram panchayat, who owns a fancy shop locally. The couple informed the cops that they had married each other in Mangaluru.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against six persons including the parents of Sonia on the charges that the accused visited the house of locals, Indira and Sundar Poojary, and used derogatory language against them and their family members in connection to Sonia having gone missing.
