Missing lady’s body recovered after nine days

Bengaluru: Body of a lady who was washed away, during heavy rains in the city, was recovered from a drain on Sunday.

The police have identified the body to be of Meenakshi (55). Meenakshi and her daughter were swept away on October 13 when an overflowing drain on 18th Main Road in JC Nagar, flooded their house. Pushpa’s body was recovered 36 hours later on October 15 from a storm water drain 12km away from where she had been washed away.

“The postmortem was conducted and Meenakshi’s body was handed over to her other daughter. Compensation of Rs 5 lakh has been given to the family,” said a BBMP spokesperson.
