Mangaluru: The Karnataka High Court will begin hearing into the habeas corpus petition plea filed by parents of a boy following his mysterious disappearance. A summon has been issued to Urwa police station sub-inspector Ravish and police officer-turned-politician Madan in this regards.
Alleging that the police department was shielding Madan, a former policeman, Shivakumar, father of the missing youth Vinayak approached the high court seeking justice.
Vinayak, an aeronautical engineering student of Karavali College had decided to campaign for Madan in the recently held assembly elections after hearing his speeches. It is gathered that Vinayak even began staying at Madan’s house during this period.
Even after Madan’s loss in the elections, Vinayak was staying at the formers house from where he is said to have gone missing mysteriously around a month-and-half before. Efforts to contact him over the phone, by his parents too have gone in vain.
As the numerous appeals made by Shivakumar to the police department to trace his son has not yielded any results he decided to file a habeas corpus petition in the high court.
Speaking to reporters Shivakumar expressed suspicion that Madan along with his female friend may have eliminated Vinayak as he was aware of their secrets.
