MIT’s sleep monitor can track people’s sleep postures using radio signals

MIT researchers developed a wireless way to monitor a person’s sleep postures using reflected radio signals from a device mounted on a wall.
According to Engadget, a device that can monitor sleep postures has many potential uses. It could be used to track the progression of Parkinson’s disease, for instance, since people with the condition lose their ability to turn over in bed
The device, BodyCompass, doesn’t require cameras or sensors to be attached to the body to provide sleep data.
BodyCompass works by looking at the reflection of radio signals as they bounce off of objects in the room. It focuses on signals that bounce off a person’s chest and belly to check how the body is angled.
