Bengaluru: A heated argument took place between a traffic cop and the daughter of MLA Aravind Limbavali over speeding and breaking traffic rules on the Raj Bhavan Road here on Thursday. The video of the purported altercation has gone viral on social media.

An ACP of the traffic department was making rounds on Queen’s Road when a luxury BMW car, driven well beyond the speed limit, zoomed past him towards Raj Bhavan. The ACP duly reported the traffic infraction to the control room along with the car’s number plate to the control room. Based on this complaint, Cubbon Park traffic cops stopped the car.

Limbavali’s daughter, who was driving the car, got angry at the cops and questioned them for stopping her. “Do you know who I am? I am MLA Aravind Limbavali’s daughter. Why did you stop my car?” she asked the police.

Cops did not heed the threat and conducted a check on the number plate. It was found that about Rs 9,000 in fines were pending against the number plate. The cops summarily issued another traffic ticket for overspeeding and asked the woman to pay Rs 10,000 including past dues. On hearing this, the quarrel again erupted.

Police sources said that the car was released after all traffic fine due was paid.

Meanwhile, Aravind Limbavali issued a statement after the video went viral, and said that his daughter was indeed stopped by the police when she was riding the BMW with her friends. All fines have been paid for overspeeding he said and added that let the guilty be punished.
