Bengaluru: Mangalore North MLA Dr Bharat Shetty has urged the government to implement the Sarojini Mahishi Report recommending reservation for local Kannadigas in employment.

“Reservation has been recommended in entities with more than 50 employees. There is a provision for 100 per cent employment of locals in D Group jobs and 85 and 65 per cent in B and A Group jobs. Permission has already been given to deputy commissioners to implement the Report. The reservation system was amended into the 2019 Industrial and Employment Policy. However, it has not been strictly enforced. The government must implement the Report to help in generation of jobs for locals,” Shetty said.

Replying to him in the house, Labor Minister Hebbar promised that the issue would be addressed.
