Udupi: CCB police investigation has revealed that Chitra Kundapura, the prime accused in MLA ticket cheating case, had been building a house for herself with the help of her friend.

The house is being built on a 20-25 cents plot which was bought by Chitra’s friend and co-accused in the case Srikanth Nayak about a year ago near Hiriyadka in Udupi. It is alleged that Chaitra had been providing finances for the construction of the 2-storey structure.

Currently, the work on the first floor of the house is completed. Two borewells have been dug at the site.  Gravel, stone, and sand for construction are piled at the site.

Following the arrest of Chaitra and Srikanth Nayak the construction has stopped.

A team of CCB sleuths is currently stationed in Udupi for investigations. On Saturday, the team conducted investigations and collected evidence at a cooperative society where the accused in the cheating case had deposits. The searches were conducted at various locations including Bydoor, Kundapura, and Udupi Taluks.

It is also suspected that Chaitra had kept huge cash deposits, land deeds, gold jewellery, and other assets in the name of Srikanth Nayak.

It is gathered that CCB police will be in Udupi for a few more days to gather evidence.
