A complaint has been filed against Legislative Council member Ivan D’Souza at Barke Police Station in Mangaluru for allegedly making a provocative speech during a recent protest.
The protest was organized by the Congress party in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation office to oppose the Governor’s sanction for prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the MUDA case.
During the protest, Ivan D’Souza allegedly made inflammatory remarks against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, which were perceived as inciting violence. In his speech, D’Souza reportedly stated that if the President of India does not recall the Governor, a situation similar to what occurred with Bangladesh’s Prime Ministers could happen at the Governor’s office. He further declared that their next agitation would be “Chalo Governor’s Office.”
Following D’Souza’s speech, there were reports of violence, including an incident where a Congress worker allegedly threw stones at a bus.
In light of these events, a person named Akhilesh filed a complaint at Barke Police Station against Ivan D’Souza, leading to the registration of a case. The police are currently investigating the matter.
