M’luru central railways station to become world class soon

Mangaluru: The process of developing Mangaluru central railway station as a world class railway station has received permission and Rs 4 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase on the related development works which will soon reach completion, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at the railway development committee meeting that took place at the DK GP on Wednesday. A second entrance and many other development activities are being taken up at the central railway station, he said.
Railway development committee’s Hanumanth Kamath spoke and said that Rs 7.5 crore have been sanctioned for the creation of the 4th platform at central railway station. But, without the relocation of the pit-lane by the railway official, it will not be possible to create the 4th and 5th platforms. This plan has been delayed since a very long time and now for how many more years will this delay continue for in waiting for grant for the relocation of the pit-lane, he asked. Nalin directed the railway officials to submit a possibility report in this connection.
Importance for Kerala railways – objection
Previously, when the time table for 16575/76 Mangaluru-Yeshwanthpur express train was being decided, it was finalized for Mangaluru central railway station. But a few officials caused hindrance and made it more feasible for trains going towards Kerala, was the objection expressed during the meeting. Palakkad Railway Divisional Manager P S Sami spoke and said that attempts will be made to start the train Mangaluru central railways station itself.
Permission has been received for the construction of an under-bridge at Jeppu Mahakalipadavu and it has been decided to sanction Rs 40 crores under the Mangaluru smart city grant, informed Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Mohammed Nazeer. Within a year of depositing this aount with the railway department the under-bridge will be constructed, informed the officials.
Demands
The problem of water being unable to flow freely beneath the railway bridge at Attavar, Mahalaxmi train should be resumed, railways should give permission for the creation f the road at Jeppu Kudupady were the demands expressed at the meeting.
GP president Ganesh Arbi spoke and said that due to the creation of a second railway track at Malavoor, close to 50 houses have lost road connection, he alleged. In response, the railway officials said that no proposal has been submitted to them in this connection. Therefore Nalin directed for the submission of a report in this connection from the GP to the district administration and then to the railway department.
Dinesh Kumpala poke and said that online taxis are functioning at a lower fare than the tourist taxis at the railway station and hence causing a problem. Same price should be decided for everyone he said. IN response Nalin said that online taxis is the public’s demand. It cannot be opposed. The issue will be inspected upon and reached to a mutually agreeable conclusion by not causing any problem to either parties.
BC road – Addahole highway worj has not been cancelled
Speaking at a meeting under the leadership of MP Nalin on highway related works, NHAI planning director Lingegowda said the concretization work of the BC road-Addahole highway has been delayed due to technical problems. But it has not been terminated. 21 kms of the planned road comes within the limits of a sanctuary and is a wildlife corridor. As the central ministry for road transport has not yet given permission for four over-bridges and other additional proposals costing Rs 223 crore, the problem has occurred. Since there were landslides during this monsoon, additional land needs to be acquired. It will take 4 months to acquire 47 hectares of land. This work will be conducted continuously, he informed.
