Mangaluru: Revenue minister R Ashok hit out at Congress for wasting taxpayers’ money by staging a day and night dharna at the Vidhana Soudha demanding the ouster of KS Eshwarappa and not allowing the assembly to function.
Speaking to presspersons after inaugurating the file clearance campaign of the Dakshina Kannada administration here on Saturday, the minister questioned why Congress was not discussing the hijab and saffron shawl controversy in the state assembly.
“They (Congress leaders) are protesting instead of holding discussions on issues of importance,” he alleged.
Crores of taxpayers’ money are spent on holding every assembly session, he said and added that Congress was doing injustice to the taxpayer by “sleeping on the floor” of the assembly.
He also demanded that Congress leaders Siddaramaih and DK Shivakumar make their stand on the hijab row clear.
