Mangaluru: The additional and sessions court here convicted a man charged with raping a minor girl and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment.

In March last year, a minor girl had lodged a complaint at the Belthangady police station against Bobby (48), a resident of Beltangady alleging that he had repeatedly raped her between 8 pm on December 19, 2021, and 8.30 pm on February 26, 2022, in Belthangady. Following this, Bobby had been arrested and charged under the provisions of the law including the POCSO Act.

After perusing the evidence presented, the court held Bobby guilty as charged. The court sentenced Bobby to 20 years in prison for the crime and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 failing which to serve additional 6 months imprisonment.
