M’luru Dasara: Tableaux need to obtain clearance from temple committee

Mangaluru: The Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara temple and the city police, on Monday, October 8 have chalked out certain measures, to be followed by the participating tableaux in the Mangaluru Dasara procession.
Noting that the immersion rituals have often gotten delayed in the past, the temple committee in consultation with the city police are introducing few changes to ensure early completion of the Mangaluru Dasara procession on October 19.
Accordingly, tableaux desirous of participating in the procession would need to register themselves with the temple committee and obtain a clearance from them regarding its theme. If the theme is found to be objectionable, the committee will not allow the tableaux to participate in the procession.
Informing about the same Mangaluru Police Commissioner T.R. Suresh said that the police would permit only those tableaux that have got clearance from temple committee. “Be ready with the tableau on October 18 and join the procession on time to ensure timely completion,” he said at the meeting, held at the temple premises and attended by those taking part in the procession.
Padmaraj R., treasurer, Temple Managing Committee said that only a vehicle, carrying the generator will be allowed with each tableau. “The head of each of the tableau should submit copies of his Aadhaar card and of those who will be on the tableau to the temple committee,” he added.
Harikrishna Bantwal, temple development committee member, urged participants to ensure that the procession keeps on moving and that the people are not made to wait long.
Further guidelines would be issued to the participants at a meeting to be held once the registrations were complete.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashant also attended the meeting.
