Mangaluru: The family of an injured labourer has filed a complaint of negligence against his employer at the Kankanady Police station.

The labourer, Sangappa Nandyala, worked at a warehouse in the city for the past 4-5 years. On January 28, he was injured at the workplace after a fall while unloading cement from a lorry at Yeyyadi.

He was rushed to a private hospital and later shifted to District Wenlock Hospital. About 2 days later he was again shifted to another private hospital, the wife of the labourer Savatri said in her complaint.

The employer had promised to pay the cost of Rs 45,000 incurred in Sangappa’s medical treatment and the wages for the missed worked days.  However, only Rs 15,000 was handed to them, the complaint alleged.

The complaint also says that the employer acted negligently, without providing safety equipment for the workers.
