Mangaluru: A city-based hotelier has filed a complaint with the consumer court seeking compensation for the damage caused to his car allegedly after a petrol pump operator filled diesel instead of petrol in his car.
The incident took place on April 5 afternoon when Jeevan Shetty had gone to the petrol pump to refuel his car. The operator filled the car with diesel, even though petrol was mentioned on the lid cover of the tank, the complainant alleged.
Owing to the negligence of the staffer, the car’s engine was damaged and he suffered lakhs of loss. He also claimed that the pump owners promised to bear the cost of the repair but did not follow through on their promise. He thus decided to approach the consumer court.
