M’luru origin boat sinks at Bhatkal; fishermen rescued

Bhatkal: A fishing boat from Mangaluru sank after it accidentally rammed into huge boulders while engaged in fishing near Netrani Island about 22 km from here on Sunday September 8th. The fishermen aboard the sinking vessel were rescued by another fishing boat.
A person identified as Venkatesh was piloting the ill-fated vessel named ‘Salma-1’ owned by Mohammed Asif of Mangaluu when the crash occurred. The boat was bearing 10 fishermen aboard when the trgedy struck. All the fishermen are from Andhra Pradesh
The waves which were rocking the boat led to the accident and the fishermen in another boat that was engaged in fishing activity nearby rescued them. Later, the fishermen were then sent to Mangaluru in another boat.
Murudeshwar police station have received information regarding the incident but no official complaint has been lodges so far.
